Synopsis

Rhianna Davies is well-acquainted with heartache after the painful loss of her parents. At the arrival of her ghastly uncle, she is brought even lower: Rhi has been banished from her family’s estate home and must rely on the kindness of her tightly knit Welsh miners for help. Without the protective love of her parents, Rhi has no illusions that hers will be a happy ending—until an addendum to her father’s will arrives in the hands of a prince. Marc Wilhelm, Prince of Oldenburg, is in Wales with one purpose: to claim his betrothed. A long-ago promise between their fathers forges an indelible link between Rhi and Marc, but there remains just one problem: neither wants to marry a stranger. With no remaining ties to Wales, Rhi agrees to accompany Marc to Oldenburg, where he will forfeit their betrothal so she may have her pick of husbands. But their journey takes them down unexpected paths, from the depths of a Welsh mine to the marriage mart of London to a warm reception in Oldenburg. Rhi and Marc discover that their connection and their challenges run deeper than either anticipated, but whether from their own hesitations or from danger that threatens without, the couple might be thwarted before they can even begin the happily ever after they so richly deserve.

My Review

This was such a wonderful story set between Wales and London. I just couldn't put this book down. I just had to read it in one sitting. Even though this book is the 3rd in a series it reads well as a standalone book. I loved the storyline which follows a lady from a Welsh mining town through her season in London then back to her roots. This book whisked me away on a wonderful journey as the female protagonist is forced to find a husband. I especially loved this character which I warmed to straight away as she was bold and confident despite her mean uncle. The other characters were great and well developed and very realistic. It was definitely a brilliant page turning novel. This was a fantastic historical fiction book that contains a hint of slow burning romance. The pace was great and it was so well wrote. The ending was brilliant and so satisfying but I won't be giving anything away. I really can't recommend this book enough if you love historical fiction with a hint of romance then this book is definitely for you. Plus it has such a beautiful cover that shouts read me!

Only the highest of praise goes out to the author and publishers for creating such a magnificent story that will have you engrossed in seconds. I look forward to reading more from this wonderful author.
