Adventures in Time Alexander the Great by Dominic Sandbrook (Penguin) 5 Stars

Publication date 4/11/21 Book 336 Pages

I got this book for my daughter who is 9 as she loves history books but due to the length she was a little bit young for it but its fantastic for ages 11 years to adult as I loved it so much. Not to mention how much fun it was trying to pronounce all the names and places. many thanks to google lol.

Many thanks to the author, publishers and Netgalley for allowing me to pick this book to read and review.

Synopsis

Take a journey to a vanished world with the ADVENTURES IN TIME series - stories so exciting you won't believe they're all true 'Alexander's mind was clear. It was time to go east. Time to march into Asia, to confront the Persians and to meet his destiny.' Alexander of Macedon has one, wild dream: to rule the world. And with his childhood friends and his beloved horse Bucephalas, he sets out from his home in Ancient Greece to do just that. With historian Dominic Sandbrook as our guide, join Alexander on his incredible journey, travelling through the deserts of Egypt and over the snow-capped mountains of Persia all the way to India, defeating all who stand in his way. For anything is possible with the blessing of the gods... The Adventures in Time series brings the past alive for twenty-first century children. These stories are every bit as exciting as those of Harry Potter or Matilda Wormwood. The only difference is they actually happened...

My Review

This was a brilliant book. I read it with my 9 year old and she loved it until just over half way before she didn't want to finish it. This was through no fault of the book she was obviously because she was slightly to young for this level and length of book. I would say it was more and 11 year old plus book. But as an adult I loved the book I read it until the end and I would really recommend it for adults aswell as its a brilliant history book. I would of loved to see the pronunciation of names of people and places in brackets. We had loads of fun trying to pronounce them through and asking Google aswell.it was a very good engaging book that we learnt so much from. My daughter loved going to school after reading sections telling all her friends about what she had learnt. I really do recommend this book as its really exciting and gripping, page turner. I can't wait to read more from this author. So much praise goes to the author and publishers for producing such an amazing fact filled story that both children and adults can learn and enjoy.
