Synopsis
An apocalyptic supernova flashes over the South Pole. A mysterious mission sent deep into the Amazon. The story of one family’s struggle to reunite… Max Carver, a down-on-his-luck truck driver and Army vet, joins a rescue mission into Brazil. The target is a utopian tech village, the Colony, hidden in the rainforest and run by a charismatic genius. Max’s pregnant wife, Talisha Carver, is the NSA analyst who intercepted encrypted Colony messages signaling a mysterious impending event. Dr. Xin Rou is a Chinese researcher working at the IceCube neutrino experiment at the South Pole. On lucky days a single flash might signal the passage of a ghostly interstellar particle. Suddenly, IceCube’s entire array lights up. A million detectors at once. Which is impossible. The Antarctic sky is clear and calm—but she is already running for the door. Because the world is about to end. But the mystery only just begins... My Review
This book had a brilliant start. Sci-fi is a genre I keep edging into, as l like the more realistic dystopia books that have plenty of science obviously with a pinch of salt on the accuracy. This fell into that category.
I listened to the audiobook and the narrator was wonderful and the perfect fit. Definitely a 5 star narrator. I loved the pace of this book and the intensity that was created. A silly lapse in concentration by me made me lose my way and it was hard to pull back and get my bearings again due to the pace of the book. So it does take lots of concentration.
I enjoyed the range of characters all with there different characteristics made the book all that more enjoyed.
This book is the first part of the series so plenty more action to get involved with.
Will I be reading the series probably not . This is purely because it is a newish genre to me and I sometimes feel my lack of reading in this knowledge affect the quality of the reviews I write. I am fully aware I did not do this book justice as my concentration level did not keep up enough to provide you the reader the great insight into the books quality.
Many thanks to the author, narrator and publishing team for creating this wonderful story that im sure all dystopia fans will enjoy.
