Synopsis

In this compulsively readable novel of domestic suspense, a young woman takes comfort in reconnecting with her childhood nanny after her father's death, until she starts to uncover secrets the nanny has been holding for twenty years. Sue Keller is lost. When her father dies suddenly, she's orphaned in her mid-twenties, her mother already long gone. Then Sue meets Annie. It’s been twenty years, but Annie could never forget that face. She was Sue’s live-in nanny at their big house upstate, and she loved Sue like she was her own. Craving connection and mothering, Sue is only too eager to welcome Annie back into her life; but as they become inseparable once again, Sue starts to uncover the truth about Annie's unsettling time in the Keller house all those years ago, particularly the manner of her departure—or dismissal. At the same time, she begins to grow increasingly alarmed for the safety of the two new charges currently in Annie's care. Told in alternating points of views—Annie in the mid-'90s and Sue in the present day—this taut novel of suspense will keep readers turning the pages right up to the shocking end.

My Review

This was a brilliant read. I just knew from the start that I was going to like this book from the start. It certainly had a very creepy story. You just k ow there is going to be a great plot twist and I wasn't disappointed. This is a great medium pace book that builds up to a big end. The author did a brilliant job at creating a wonderful sense of atmosphere and tension. I loved just how dark this psychology thriller got. About 3/4 of the way in I got a bit confused and it took me a while to get back on track. It was creepy how jealous she became. There was some very shocking events. Some that some might find a little much but because its fiction and not real you can go that far to show what the nanny will go to get what she wants. I definitely recommend this book is you like dark psychological dangerous thrillers. Stories of obsession that characters will go to any length.

So much praise goes out to the author and publishers for creating this creepy, dark and exciting thriller. I will definitely be looking out for more books by this brilliant author.
